Cupcake Box

Image
Using Close to My Heart's Milk Cartons (Z1739) I created what I think is the cutest cupcake box to deliver a cupcake to a special person on their birthday, or any occasion for that matter! I used the all Close to My Heart Products and they are: Smoothie Ink Black Ink Lagoon Ink Creme Brule Cardstock Dotty For You paper June Stamp of the Month "Tweet for you" Here are the pictures of all sides: I hope you are all having a great Father's Day and are inspired by this box to create something tonight!

4th of July Pinwheels

Image
It certainly does not feel like summer yet or even that June is approaching, but if I wait for summer it will be to late to decorate for it! Also, my poor little table under the TV was looking naked since the Jelly Bean Toparies have been put away. I used the Fanfare collection from Close to My Heart to make these patriotic pinwheels and flowers. The pinwheels are made from 6" square paper and you make an "X" on them from corner to corner. You then cut along the "X" until you get approximately 1/2" away from the center. Once that is done you punch a small hole in every other corner of the square and then you fold those into the center to create a pinwheel. I used corresponding brads, but you could also use buttons and glue dots. I added 3 circle flowers also to give it a little more dimension. If you live in the Spokane area, I will be teaching this class on Thursday June 16th from 6-8pm. E-mail me to register.

Peep's v. Bunny Chocolate House

Image
After Christmas we picked up a chocolate Christmas house and I thought it would be perfect for Easter, with only having to add some Easter candy! After I assembled the chocolate house we sat down last night to decorate it with jelly beans, peeps and chocolate Easter bunnies. Simon loved decorating it with jelly beans and putting snow "white chocolate" on it. Never did I think with Easter at the end of April would we still have snow, but since it has snowed off and on all week, I guess his adding snow was appropriate. Before we started decorating I attached the peeps with white chocolate to my tray and set the house over it so they could be seen looking out. We also set one up at each end of the house. I then cut jelly beans in half for Simon to attach to the roof and make flowers out of on the walls of the house. After he was done with that Seth and I decided to take some bites of the chocolate bunnies and make it look like they had tried to attack the peeps and the ...

Easter Baskets

Image
Last week while I was spending too much time on Facebook, I saw a link for Easter baskets. Once I saw how easy they were I knew I had to make some. So, Friday night I made 3 Easter baskets for our Easter brunch. I will fill them with dyed Easter Eggs on Sunday morning. Visit the Scrapbook & Cards Today for a great tutorial for the  Easter Basket s.

Jelly Bean Topiary's

Image
Now I don't normally decorate for Holiday's other than Halloween and Christmas. However, my friend Heather shared a blog ( My Garden of Eden ) that had these adorable Jelly Bean Topiary's that I knew I had to make. I also had all the supplies on hand, except the jelly beans, which helped make the decision easier. Before, I show you the topiary's though, I should warn you I learned a few things that they did not point out. First, when working with hot glue, it is best not to do it in front of you child(ren) if you are going to let slip bad words when you burn your finger. Needless to say, Simon learned one or two words when I was working on them and I decided to put them away until after bedtime! Second, you really do need lot's of jelly beans. I had to make 3 store runs. You, your children, spouse and animals will eat more than you think. Also, the bag's do not have an equal number of each color. I of course took out all the black, but there were more reds...

Spring is in the House

Image
While it may not be spring outside yet, since we have over a foot of snow sitting in the front yard, spring has now began to enter the house. The only holiday's I decorate for are Halloween and Christmas. Other than that I may change my tablecloth, add a festive table runner and call it good. I cannot justify spending the time and money decorating for every holiday. Plus then you have to store all the stuff. I would rather have more room for my scrapbooking and quilting supplies. However, after the long winter we have had with no end in sight, I was in need of some spring cheer to brigthen up the house, so I decided to make a Spring banner to hang on our fireplace. I am pleased with how it turned out. Most of the embellishments I created myself either using the Doodlecharms cartridge or Make the Cut on my Cricut. The bird, butterfly and frog were in my stash from an old scrapbook embellishment swap I participated in. Here are close-ups of the letters to show more details. ...
