"Beautiful Thoughts" Canvas Journal

Image
I created this My Creations® Canvas Journal for a friend who will soon be a first time mom. I used Dream Pop, the May CTMH special, Color-Ready Canvas Alphabet, Close to My Heart Honey Ink and Sparkles Clear Flourish-Small.     I used my scissors to fussy cut all the flowers, circles and banners from 3 sheets of Dream Pop. Here is a sneak peak of all the Dream Pop papers:    Dream Pop is available May 1-May 31st from any Close to My Heart consultant for only $10 with any $35 purchase. Starting Wednesday you can purchase here .

Dream Pop Cards

Image
I have had so much fun playing with Dream Pop in layouts I decided to try using with some cards. I came up with 3 very different cards using the following Close to My Heart supplies: Dream Pop Card Chatter-Focus on the Little Things Stamp 4 My Friend Stamp Grey Wool Ink Glitter Paper Art Philosophy Cartridge Look for tomorrow's post using Dream Pop and a CTMH Journal.

Claire and Pun Fun

Image
I cannot believe I have been lazy on updating my blog. I am sorry for that. I have been scrapping up a storm, but with the weather getting nicer, soccer starting and my job hunting it is so much quicker to post on Facebook then to write a blog post! I will catch up this weekend so you don't miss out on any great layouts. Last night I decided to play with my Puns of Praise Stamp Set from Close to My Heart . I also used the new Claire paper pack, Outdoor Denim and Sunset Close to My Heart Ink. Here are the 4 cards I made: The cutting instructions are as follows: Card 1-   Blue cardstock 4"x 5 1/4"               The chevrons are hand cut from one of the patterned papers in Claire               Sunset cardstock 3 1/2" square               Pink cardstock    3" square               Blue cardstock 1/2" x 4 Stamped and inked with Outdoor Denim Card  2- Patterned paper-4x 5 1/4"              Orange Strip 1 1/2" x 4"

Claire Layout with Homemade Spray Mist

Image
I love misting however, I always want to mist with a  color I don't have or I want it to match the ink I am using on the layout. Close to My Heart has a perfect solution: Create A Shade Pearl Paint  ($2.95) Exclusive Re-Inker , available in 42 colors ($4.25) Spray Pen  (3 for $3.95) All you need to add is water!  There is no exact recipe as it depends how dark you want your spray. I typically use 8-10 drops of re-inker, a small dab of pearl paint and then carefully fill the spray pen with water. Shake well and then spray on your cardstock, patterned paper or embellishments. For the best spray result I hold the pen at a 45 degree angle and 6" away from my paper. Be sure to play with scrap paper first until you get a feel of how to spray so it does not glob or pool. Here is the cardstock I misted before I created anything. Here is the final project.    Besides the spray mist, I also used the Claire paper pack, Outdoor Denim Cardstock both fr

My Sunshine Blog Hop

Image
Welcome to our April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  This month's stamp from Close to My Heart is "My Sunshine" and is available exclusively through your Close to My Heart consultant from April 1 - 30, 2013.  You can purchase this stamp set for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.       If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Lucy's blog – Love 2 Create .   If you came from Theo of Celebrate Crafts  then you are in the right place! I created both a card and a layout using the Bo Bunny Barefoot Word paper. What I learned though is that our ink and cardstock colors go Perfectly with Bo Bunny paper! I used our light blue card stock, white daisy cardstock and honey, lagoon, crystal blue and pear ink and finally our assorted flip flaps to add more pictures of water play. All Close to My Heart products can be purchased here .   To create the title, I cut out the title in some extra cardstock at 1 1/2"

Day 4- "Number One Dad"

Image
A fabulous customer/friend found some old Close to My Heart kits on Ebay for 2 page "World's Best Dad" layouts. She ended up with multiple kits and shared with all of us one night at a Crop. However, as soon as I saw the paper and embellishments, I knew a one page layout to put in a frame would be perfect for my husband. Here is the end result:

Day 3-Moonlight 1 page layout

Image
The story behind this picture cannot fully be captured in a layout, but I did try! This was from my son's first field trip in pre-school. It was raining so hard the day we had fieldtrip to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch. He was so cold he would barely hold the pumpkin for a picture and definitely did not want to smile!   I used some of the Moonlight paper pack from Close to My Heart that I had left along with some Color-Ready Arbor Wooden Shapes , Color-Ready Seam Binding ribbon ,   Olive Exclusive Inks® and Thickers.   The layout is from Reflections , Bottom Border, Diagonal Accent on Page 27.

Day 2-Buzz and Bumble Layout

Image
Buzz and Bumble is one of my favorite new paper lines from Close to My Heart. It is so versatile and has so many fun colors. This layout features the sunset, crème brulee and cocoa colors.   The striped paper is cut 10" X 12" and the 3" are cut off of that for the right page. The honeycomb paper is cut 2" x 4" for the left page and 2" x 12" for the right page. There are two 2"x2" squares of patterned paper and cocoa on the right page for 2 photos. The photo mats are cut at 5 1/4" x 7 1/4", 4 1/4" x 6 1/4", and (2) 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" I also used Sunset Baker's Twine  and the cocoa die cut is from the Art Philosophy Cartridge .   This double page layout is also part of my Page Kits of the Month and is available for purchase for $6, or $15 for the next 3 months of layouts or $55 for 12 layouts over a year.

Image

I also used the Make it From Your Heart Vol. I  for the design. Other misc. supplies I used was the Crème Brulee Baker's Twine and Outdoor Denim Ink.
