4th of July Pinwheels

Image
It certainly does not feel like summer yet or even that June is approaching, but if I wait for summer it will be to late to decorate for it! Also, my poor little table under the TV was looking naked since the Jelly Bean Toparies have been put away. I used the Fanfare collection from Close to My Heart to make these patriotic pinwheels and flowers. The pinwheels are made from 6" square paper and you make an "X" on them from corner to corner. You then cut along the "X" until you get approximately 1/2" away from the center. Once that is done you punch a small hole in every other corner of the square and then you fold those into the center to create a pinwheel. I used corresponding brads, but you could also use buttons and glue dots. I added 3 circle flowers also to give it a little more dimension. If you live in the Spokane area, I will be teaching this class on Thursday June 16th from 6-8pm. E-mail me to register.

Table Runner-Moroccan Pattern

Image
After years of thinking about it our family finally upgraded to a flat screen TV. I will say it is much cooler than I ever imagined! However, that meant our entertainment center went away and we brought in a small shelf to put underneath the TV for the electronics and toys. The top of it was crying to be covered with a table runner so I went through my scrap bag and pulled some fabric out to make 3 blocks from a Moroccan Tile quilt pattern that I found in an old issue of Fons & Porter magazine. The table runner took much longer to put together than I thought and although I would never do a complete quilt with this pattern, I am happy with how the table runner turned out.

New Year Resolutions

I cannot believe June is almost here. I decided since we are 5 months into 2011 it would be a good time to look back at my New Year's Resolutions and see how I am doing. I can tell without looking, not so good! I did start a blog, but since I am not accomplishing a lot it has not been updated in awhile. Which leads to controlling my Crafter's ADD, which is still out of control. I have had the same picnic blanket on my quilt design wall for 3 months now, have a table runner that just needs the binding sewn on, still 18 months behind on our family scrapbook and am prepping for card classes up until people arrive and I still have not started summer decorations for the house. Every year many of us put working out/loosing weight or the like on our list. This is one think I have actually accomplished. Thanks to a fabulous Zumba/TRX instructor I have been working out regularly since March and fit into shorts that have not seen the light of day since before Simon was born! Other
